Innovation Showcase 1.6 A nutritionist’s perspective on reducing the greenhouse gas intensity of chicken and egg production
There is increasing social and political pressure on all domains of human activity to consider the impact on the environment. Life cycle analysis (LCA) is a standardized process that looks at the relative impacts of different stages/components of a product’s life cycle to determine where to best direct efforts to reduce resource-use intensity. Matt Oryschak will discuss studies completed by Alberta Agriculture & Forestry to determine the LCA-based green house gas (GHG) footprint of chicken and egg production.
